The dress that decided to develop

Photobucket
Lately, all dresses that I'm sewing are having an evolution .... Let me explain ....
Photobucket

At the beginning of this week I wanted to sew the dress that appeared in Burda magazine         2 / 2011.
Basically, the bodice is the same as last week, only that the armhole is cut, sleeveless.
I chose for this dress cotton fabric with black polka dots, I decided to line the bodice with white cotton because the fabric is quite thin and probably it would be transparent as well, thus the dress gaining weight and stiffness.
I decided to add a detail to the front of the body, the polka dots inspired me a false placket with ruffles.
Photobucket When the body of the dress was finished, I placed it on the mannequin and placed over a piece of fabric stuck with pins, so I thought maybe the dress needed something more fun and strident
Photobucket
PhotobucketSo a piece of black fabric was the contrast needed for a dress more "flashy".

I joined the upper body of the dress with a skirt that appears in the same magazine by the line of the waist, I had made this skirt before ...
The last hurdle I encountered was the subject of the zippers, so I sewed two zippers, a white zipper for the top and a black zipper to the skirt, the two find themselves in the line of waist and avoids problems of white zipper on black fabric and vice versa, it was OK!

And then just to find the right accessories, you know .... Accessories are very important to me ...
Photobucket
And go out and enjoy a walk with husband who is always a great incentive to use the home-sewn dresses ....

  5. Me he enamorado de la falda por detrás, con las pinzas cruzadas. Me da la impresión de que es el típico vestido que te lo pones y te da un subidón instantáneo.

  15. This dress is so wonderfully elegant and ladylike. It would have looked nice in all polka dots, but the 2 tone skirt/bodice adds much more interest. Wonderful project!

PS - I'm a bit behind on blog reading and missed your dress below. It is utterly fabulous, too!

  16. I always wondered how to sort out the two colour zipper but it never occurred to me to do it that way. It´s great. The dress is classy but not too serious and certainly not boring! you´re such a talented designer.
