Four years ago.....

Photobucket

The month of July is a month of celebrations in my family ... two Mondays ago was my birthday, tomorrow is hubby's birthday and last weekend we celebrated the fourth year of marriage of my sister, my only sister!, Well ... if this is a sewing blog and I published a post on my sister's wedding sure you already guessed the reason ... yes, I sewed the dresses ... her wedding dress and my  godmother dress at the ceremony ...

This happened in July 2007, to be honest, I started to dress two weeks before the wedding and the wedding dress was finished three days before the celebration, my sister here in the first test of the dress to make alterations in the lining ... two weeks were very intense hours of sewing, many of these hours were hand sewing ...

The wedding dress is composed of a corset with boning, there are two layers of fabric, white satin underneath and lace  organza  full of pearls over, in addition to the lining, the sleeves have only the latter tissue, so they are transparent, the corset closes in the backwith fifty satin covered buttons.
The skirt is composed of four layers of fabric, lining, a layer of satin, organza layer and another layer of organza draping around the entire waist that falls half way up the skirt and collected back at the waist with a corsage fabric flowers, I also sewed the veil from the head and the pettitcoat.
Photobucket My dress has two layers of fabric, hot pink satin underneath, and chiffon on the outside that changes color throughout the dress, I finished it in one day and the next day I was sewing beads, this work by hand took me around the full day, but I was very pleased with my new dress.

The ceremony was very emotional and smart, we were all happy to share this beautiful moment with family and friends ... No doubt you know the tradition of keeping in top-secret wedding dress to the end, my sister had told the guests that the wedding dress would be sewn by me, so there was much expectation on this topic, I I felt very gratified when the entrance of the temple, I heard  a lot of  "Ohhh," this was a beautiful moment I will never forget.

Now I'll show you some random photos of the rest of the celebration, I have put more pictures in my Photobucket album, you can click on a photo and the album will open if you are curious, so this post will not be too heavy for loading ....

  2. Oh My Goodness! The dress is gorgeous, and I know having you make it just added that much more to the dress. I can only imagine the skills and love that went into making her dress!

    Your dress is also stunning!

Aren't sisters wonderful to have ! I also have only one sister. She doesn't sew; so she gives me a call when she wants something sewn; and you know what I don't mind.

You are indeed an exceptional seamstress, and I enjoy reading your blog, and seeing your creations.
