"Summer Sky" Dress, details.

I decided to call this dress "Summer Sky" because when I bought two meters of this fabric four years ago,  the beautiful colors of blue and white stripes immediately reminded me the summer sky, light blue and small white clouds  floating in it.
Photobucket
Although the color of the photo does no justice to how beautiful is it .... I hope that tomorrow I will wear the dress and get some photos outside, perhaps with the sunlight, the color in the photo is more accurate, I hope.
There are´t many pictures of the construction of the dress, I was so excited about sewing it,  I just wanted to see it ending in the dummy and forgot to take pictures, only the one I showed in the previous post when I sewed the pleats that both intrigued you and that while I added a little detail to give importance to the collar.

The details, if you're wondering by the pattern that  I used for this dress, it´s the same as for the dress last week, I made some alterations in the pattern to convert that Burda dress in a shirt dress ... No!... in "The Shirt Dress of my dreams."
Photobucket
I embroidered a little flower on one side of the collar to subtract appearance of "string ofOxford", the flower is uneven, but I had the idea to embroider it when the collar was closed and was difficult to manage, it is not perfect but it is only a small detail.
Photobucket
The pleateds of the front are the result of a delicious idea I had when I watched the disposition of the stripes on the fabric, plus they have an interesting visual effect when you see the dress from different angles.
I made small changes in dress also looking for a cushioning effect when I use it, for example, the collar is slightly wider than normal for my neck, the reason is that I think bring it fully enclosed with all the buttons, and thinking of temperatures where I live, I do not want to look like a "smothered chicken" when I wear the dress with high temperatures.
And the buttons are many and they are together, the reason is that I do not want the spaces between a button and another button showing disastrous images of my bra and tummy when I´m sitting, this would fatally unpleasant for the person who is in front of me at the time I'd rather save that vision.
Photobucket
I eliminated the center back seam so it looks more "clean". In fact, the back of the dress hasn´t any  extraordinary detail.
Photobucket
And a little secret invisible zipper in the side seam so I can "enter" the dress, you can see the buttons and buttonholes only reach the waist line.

Photobucket
So ... Mystery solved, a week more ... a wonderful dress more, add it to my closet .... now only need to look for the perfect accessories for this dress and think next one on the wish list ....

And you? Is your list of wishes coming true??

  19. That's a beautiful dress. Love the pleats. Did you pleat the fabric and then cut the garment out, OR did you plan the pleats and incorporate them into the pattern before you cut?
