Strolling through the port with a new dress ....

Photobucket

The landscape appropriate for the scenario of this dress is definitely the port ....
Photobucket

It was a fun little photo shoot, surrounded by wonderful smell of the sea .... and some impassive spectators ....

"Navy Inspiration" Dress. The facts...

Photobucket
  Photobucket
This week, a Navy dress inspiration ... Love this theme!
I am very excited about this dress, it takes on my wish list a long time, hoping to find the perfect fabric for it. So when I saw this fabric for some time ago I thought that the association of this fabric with this model was a nice combo.
Really, this is the pattern of the Burda magazine April 2001. I made some alterations in the pattern to adjust it to what I had in mind ...
Photobucket  Photobucket
Mainly, I eliminated the loose folds of the skirt, this is really an adjustment, because I  was only two meters of fabric, also ... when working with stripes or checks, the amount of fabric needed is higher, so I cut a slightly circle skirt and added  the draft pockets.

Photobucket
    Love this detail!
Photobucket Photobucket
I was some  time hesitant about leaving the collar that brings the original model, I was thinking of removing it and adding a typical sailor's collar .... but then I took a look at this book I have in my cave sewing, it's very inspiring! I noticed a coat with the same neck as my dress and it was 1947. Great!
 Photobucket
        Wonderful!!!
Photobucket

Photobucket
Although I wanted to accentuate the effect of the yoke and the contrast with the direction of the stripes on the fabric, so I sewed the binding of this with a line of closely spaced zigzag stitch with white thread for this effect in the front yoke and back.
Photobucket

Photobucket  The construction of all the dress is directed at the disposal of the striped fabric lining I really enjoyed them and playing with the possibilities ....
Photobucket Photobucket
A glance at the garment wrong side ....
Now, as always .... find the right accessories to get the desired style for me, but that ....tomorrow ....
  Happy sewing!

Time well spent

Photobucket

Last weekend was time well spent, Mr. A. and I went to a nice village in the center of the island for a walk and find it a little better, this town caught my attention because it has many charms and a beautiful story. I was wearing my suit built here.
Photobucket

The greater wealth that can have an island is undoubtedly the water, a small island hasn´t rivers where to get water, so it is limited to the springs that are located underground and rain.
This town was built after the conquest of the island by the Spanish, about one of the largest springs on the island, and this wonderful heritage has reached today.Photobucket Photobucket  Below ground, the whole town is an intricate network of canals to bring water to all points in the photo you can see  "windows" through which the water drains, it runs all the people underground, above is the road ...Photobucket
The village is situated at the top of the mountain, so there are wonderful views from here ...Photobucket  Photobucket
Photobucket
Fun finds, I could not resist taking a picture with it ... Lovely!Photobucket

Photobucket
At lunchtime, a quick meal at the fun local, a tribute to the King of  humor on black and white...
Photobucket
On Sunday afternoon there wasn´t  candy or cake, instead, Mr. A. and I spent the time location of the sewing machine sewing in my cave to share space well, I am very happy with this .... Now I have everything nearby and a swivel chair between machines need only turn to one side of my back to change machine, Great!

Photobucket  A quick presentation of my "pampered girls "....

This is my overlock machine industry, it's an "all terrain", it never has complained.

Photobucket
        Sewing Machine semi-industrial.
Photobucket  Second sewing machine. This is used to sew, buttonholes and decorative stitches. It'shandy when you sew a garment with two colors, so I can have a machine threaded one color and one of another color, time savings ...Photobucket
Overlock Second, I actually use this machine for rolled hems, for example, hem and sleeves of this dress ...
Photobucket
Coverstitch. I sew swimwear and knitwear with it. Honestly, I have this machine since 2005, but it and I are bad friends ....

There are three machines in my cave, is this, I use it for embroidery (as did our grandmothers, lower teeth and embroidery machine with a frame, some day I will make a little video for you to look like making it embroidered with ), another sewing machine that I use to sew jeans and a machine rather than being stored for some time due to lack of space.
So my mojo is higher than ever .... And you? Could you show your "spoiled children"??

"Rear Window" Suit.

Photobucket

If you follow my blog some time ago, then you know that I like to sew clothes from classic films.
I always felt a weakness for beautiful clothes that appear in movies, so one day I decided that I could wear them too, you can find the suit in January here, here in February , March here.
The last movie I chose was "Rear Window" a wonderful movie by Alfred Hitchcock, and the dress I chose to sew was this, the fabulous Grace Kelly ...
Photobucket
I am aware that Grace Kelly is wearing a party dress fantastic in this scene, the dress has a tight body black V-neck front and back, and her dress has a white skirt with a skirt top organza embroidered with black beads. My version of this dress has some differences with the original, I want to wear this suit out for a walk or dine out and NOT a dress for a special occasion, so I chose to sew a shirt in black stretch fabric from a pattern Burda magazine.
   Photobucket Photobucket

The shirt gave me a lot of trouble, but I think the problem is in the chosen fabric,  it's like sewing  chewing gum,  the fabric stretches all over and was a pain to sew and adjust, I opted to add a strip of 3 cm on the line neckline because it was indecent.
The skirt is a simple circular skirt cut in a thin wool fabric, it's ivory color (I love it) and was very quick and easy sewing it,.... I knew that embroidery with beads was not an option for this skirt, so I painted the fabric with "clusters",  I did not use any pattern or drawing set for it, I went to paint in the skirt after I finish sewing it , as I was evolving with the drawing .... fabric paints and a bit of imagination was enough to make the skirt in the final product.
Photobucket

If you are interested in a small tutorial on how to paint fabric, just say and I will prepare one soon.
Photobucket

So when the suit was finished, I used this to go to get my husband to his work (it was his birthday), and after some photos, we had a romantic dinner and great fun.

So I'm thinking of restarting this wonderful fun again .... and guess what!!!!  .... I have already chosen the next film ....
                  Have a wonderful week ...
